2008 Season Outlook
Michael Waltrip Racing leads the NNS train and serves as the caboose when it comes to numerical order. They've got the smallest numbers in the #00 part-time team for Michael McDowell and they have the full-time #99 team. Driving the bulk of the schedule will be late bloomer David Reutimann. Reutimann will be 38 this season as he runs in the Cup Series in part of a full-time ROTY award. He's considered a late bloomer in part to his age, and also because they had 5 seasons before his first full-time one, last year. In 2007, Reutimann racked up his first ever win and was the runner-up in points standings. He'll have 24 races to continue that this year. Joining Reutimann, meanwhile, are Ken Butler III (7 races), McDowell (3 races), and Marc Goossens (2 races). McDowell and Butler III are both development drivers while Goosens will handle 2 of the 4 roadies on the circuit. Overall, with Reutimann as the exception, there's a lack of experience on this team. However, they've done well enough where changing over to a multi-driver setup shouldn't change too much. Reutimann's never been a consistent winner, but if there's one driver that will get to Victory Lane in the #99, it will almost certainly be him.
