Race 3
The IROC Series made their 3rd stop of 1975 at the Riverside International Raceway, in Riverside, California.
Richard Petty led the field to the green flag as for the sixth time in the history of the IROC Series raced at the Riverside International Raceway as Petty would lead the first five laps before his NASCAR rival, Bobby Allison, would drive up from his 5th starting spot and began to distance himself from the pack. A wreck on Lap 11 knocked Jody Scheckter not only out of the race but out of championship contention going into the final race. David Pearson, who was involved in the crash, got heavy damage but his crew was able to repair and send him back out without losing a lap.
With the green back out, Pearson, despite heavy damage to his car, was able to pick his way through the field up to second place, but he was no match for Bobby Allison, who drove to the biggest Margin of Victory in the History of the IROC Series and his first ever IROC Series win.
Other Noticeables:
Bobby Allison scored his 1st win of the year,
Allison led 1 time for 25 laps, including the final 25 laps,
It was the 1st win of his career in the IROC Series in his 6th start,
Bobby Unser, who finished 6th, is still the points leader, leading Bobby Allison by 6 points
Heading into the final race of the season, mathematically ten drivers still have a shot of winning the championship
