1993 Food City 500 Alan Kulwicki started on the pole of yet another surprisingly-clean Bristol race. Kulwicki had a scary close call on the Thursday before the race, when the twin turboprop plane he was on began to spiral to the ground. The pilot had apparently "failed to follow procedures concerning the use of the engine inlet anti-ice system and/or continuous ignition while operating in icing conditions", according to the NTSB investigation. One of the passengers onboard, who had seen this scenario before, stormed the cockpit and hijacked the plane, bringing it out of its spiral and activating the anti-ice system. The plane landed safely at Tri-Cities Regional Airport, where the pilot was arrested for endangerment, and Kulwick publicly stated "from now on, I'm taking Amtrak". Ultimately, Kulwicki finished second to race winner Davey Allison, who had started eleventh. Only two other drivers finished on the lead lap, these being Mark Martin and Jeff Burton. Katie Sammonds came home seventh, while the rest of PCR finished outside the top-10. Andy Sammonds still leads the points standings, 61 ahead of teammate Kelly Walker. Next stop: Coca-Cola.

1993 Diet Coke 500 Andy Sammonds won the pole for another thriller at Coca-Cola Superspeedway. The possibility of rain made every driver race as hard as they could. Some a little too hard: Harry Gant and Terry Labonte both ended up on their roofs in the first yellow of the day. Andy Sammonds also sustained damage, but soldiered on to a poor finish. In the closing stages, the race became a three-way battle between Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, and Katie Sammonds. Sammonds had a good run on the leaders before she was blocked by the lapped car of Rusty Wallace, who had been told by Earnhardt's crew chief, Andy Petree, specifically to block her. Wallace complied, and even flipped the bird at her to spite Andy. When Andy found out after the race that Wallace had not only intentionally blocked Katie, but also flipped her off, CBS cameras caught him throw his helmet at Wallace, starting a brawl between their pit crews. NASCAR chose not to fine Sammonds, but did fine Wallace due to his on-track conduct. Ultimately, Earnhardt cruised to the victory, with Katie finishing third. Hut Stricklin got his career-best finish in second. In the points, Dale Earnhardt has taken the lead, with Kelly Walker second and Andy banished to third. Next stop: North Wilkesboro.

I like the Kulwicki re-write! And what's with drivers named Wallace and flipping the bird? Hopefully Katie deals with Rusty the same way Bowman dealt with Bubba last week lol

Because I tend to go all-in on one particular thing, then go all-in on another thing. One of the downsides of having Asperger's...
I am looking into getting the NSCA timeline off the ground, though, maybe with a bit of rethinking.
