The most closest finish of the NASCAR Winston Cup history! Ricky Craven started from pole. With only a yellow flag for debris, called pack racing predominated by all 200 laps.
The race itself was quiet and had only an abandonment of John Andretti. After the start the cars were assembling and were breaking up more and more after the pit stops.
The yellow flag came out and everyone joined in double rows for the restart. With 70 laps to the end, stragglers mingled with drivers battling for victory. The groups came each time and faster exchange of positions were extremely common.
Sometimes some stragglers out of the pack leaders hindered the lap, but nothing too serious.
The last lap came and we had a simple pack with the first five and Mark Martin. At the entrance of T3 Kurt Busch came inside and grabbed the vacuum of Martin, who came forward Dale Jarrett. Entering the tri-oval, Busch taking more and more vacuum, and at the finish line were nearly even. By 0.001 seconds Dale Jarrett won his fourth Daytona 500.
