Sorenson running partial schedule for BER Braun-Edwards Racing co-owners Todd Braun and Chris Edwards announced the signing of Cup Series sophomore Reed Sorenson to a 2-year pact to drive the #32 Dollar General Toyota part-time in the Nextel Cup Series. In addition, Sorenson will also drive the #32 Camping World Toyota part-time in the Nationwide Series. In both series, he will run approximately 10-12 races. "Reed, based on his past performance in the Busch Series, is a very capable driver and he has shown several flashes of brilliance so far in his short Cup Series career," said Braun. "Obviously, his equipment has, at times, failed him, and we know that we can provide him with much stronger equipment and allow him to maximize his talent and ability with BER." Sorenson currently drives for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, but has struggled tremendously. In his rookie season of 2006, Sorenson failed to earn a single top 10 finish while running 34 of 36 races, floundering to a 36th place final ranking. After a surprising top 5 finish in the Daytona 500 to begin this season, the Georgia-born driver has struggled once again, falling to his current rank of 33rd. "My Cup Series career has obviously not gone the way I intended it to," said Sorenson. "But I think a fresh start with BER is really going to rejuvenate me and I'm glad I'll be able to run in both Cup and Nationwide next season, I believe that running both is very valuable for me."
