7th Auto Club 500:Welcome to Fontana, California, for the seventh edition of the Auto Club 500. It's sunny and a bit hot, but nothing that hinders the race very concerned of tire wear. In qualifying, Kurt Busch made a deserved pole, with a very quick lap. Unlike the last track, the California Speedway has a very fast, long and spacious track. Any one of the characteristics of Fontana is that the cars never go together for 50 laps. The race has barely begun and three cars stood in front: Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace and Kurt Busch. By far were the top three cars on the track and went ahead to the first round of pit stops. Then came the first yellow flag, with Dale Earnhardt Jr hitting the wall alone. The restart came, and with it Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon fired at the top. A few laps later, with Gordon winning with a stupendous advantage, Kenny Wallace and Jeremy Mayfield led the second yellow flag of the day. The restart came again ... and it appeared the main character: Mark Martin. Restarted doing a nice advantage with the second place (in case Ricky Rudd). Did what was necessary and took a deserved 34th victory to home.
