Did Mayfield enroll in and pass NASCAR's Road to Recovery program? Yes he has, but his return to NASCAR will be very slow...depending on if owners will take a chance on him.

Race #15 - Quicken Loans 400
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made their 15th stop of 2012 at the Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Michigan, for the Quicken Loans 400.
Jimmie Johnson led the field to the green but it would be his teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. who would lead the first lap but it wouldn't be long before Stewart would take command of the field and would lead for much of the event but also leading was both Motorsports Group cars fielded by Steve Park and Johnny Benson Jr. One star that shocked the crowd was Jason Leffler driving a Ford owned by Robert Yates Racing. Having made their return at Talladega earlier in the season, Leffler made his owner proud by leading late but was shuffled out during the last pit stop.
Having beat Johnny Benson Jr. out of the pits, Tony Stewart became the new leader and at that point was on defense, having to keep Leffler, Jeff Gordon, Bill Elliott and Dale Earnhardt Jr. behind him for the remaining laps, and scored his first win of the season.
Other Noticeables: Tony Stewart scored his 1st win of the year, Stewart led 6 times for 107 laps, including the final 50 laps, It was the 45th win of his career in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and his first since 2011 at Homestead; 16 races ago, Travis Pastrana(17th) made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut, Greg Biffle, who finished 5th, kept his points lead, leading Carl Edwards by 34 points
