Race #16 - Toyota / Save Mart 350
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made their 16th stop of 2012 at the Sonoma Raceway, in Sonoma, California, for the Toyota / Save Mart 350.
Jeff Gordon led the field to the green as the road course turned out to be a hectic and wild race as a total of 29 cautions would fly during the event as many crashes resulted in many favorites being knocked out; Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Ron Fellows and many more were taken out. Gordon would lead for much of the first half of the race with most of the lead changes happened when drivers pitted for fresher tires after almost every caution before the other Gordon, Robby, entered the battle. Robby led briefly earlier in the race before taking over on Lap 83. Thanks to six more cautions, Robby was able to keep his lead which set up a Green, White, Checkered finish.
Robby Gordon was able to get a jump on the restart and was able to hold off Clint Bowyer for his first win in almost ten years.
Other Noticeables: Robby Gordon scored his 1st win of the year, Gordon led 3 times for 42 laps, including the final 30 laps, It was the 4th win of his career in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and his first since 2003 at Watkins Glen; 318 races ago, Tomy Drissi, who finished 37th, made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut, Steve Park, who finished 39th, was taken to the hospital after his hard crash and is reported to have suffered a concussion, Greg Biffle, who finished 9th, kept his points lead, leading Carl Edwards by 34 points

After shortening his schedule earlier, maybe this win and PJ's top 5 will allow them to attempt more races? Also, Steve Park, even in this series can't stop having tough breaks.
