Race #10 - Aaron's 499
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made their 10th stop of 2012 at the Talladega Superspeedway, in Talladega, Alabama, for the Aaron's 499.
Brad Keselowski led the field to the green and would lead for the first lap as for the second time in 2012 the Sprint Cup drivers tackled a Superspeedway as many drivers were looking for redemption after big wrecks took many drivers out during the Daytona 500. This week drivers seemed to give each other room for the most part, with only one caution flying for a small "big one" that took out Matt Kenseth and Jamie McMurray. Mechanical issues however would be the cause of 11 DNFs as the lack of cautions never allowed teams to cool their engines resulting in DNFs for drivers like Tony Stewart, Terry Labonte, Kasey Kahne and others.
One driver who came into Talladega looking to get back on track was Kyle Busch, as ever since his release from Joe Gibbs Racing after Martinsville has only collected one Top 5 since. Talladega however this time was the place for Kyle as he completely dominated the race leading 158 of the 188 laps and would hold off a hard charging Greg Biffle late to score his second win of the year and the first Sprint Cup Series win for his team, Kyle Busch Motorsports.
Other Noticeables: Kyle Busch scored his 2nd win of the year, Busch led 11 times for 158 laps, including the final 98 laps, It was the 26th win of his career in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and his first since Auto Club 6 races ago, Yates Racing, making their first race since 2009, ran around the Top 10 all race long before settling to finish in 14th, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished 10th, became the new points leader, now tied with Ryan Newman

It's a bit disappointing that Rowdy didn't have pony power on his car again this week, but I'm still glad to see his season get back on track.

Steve Park had a great qualifying run in the Curtis Key start and park machine, nice to see him start in the top five. Hopefully Regan Smith can pull off another Darlington miracle it'd be awesome to see him win.

Race #11 - Bojangles' Southern 500
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made their 11th stop of 2012 at the Darlington Raceway, in Darlington, South Carolina, for the Bojangles' Southern 500.
Jimmie Johnson led the field to the green and would lead for the first six laps as the track known as "the track too tough to tame" proved just that as 42 drivers started the race but only 15 would see the Checkered Flag at the end of 367 laps. Jeff Gordon, who came into the race as the Wild Card Driver #2, was victim #1 of the track, lasting only ten laps before mechanical issues knocked him out. Danica Patrick, Martin Truex Jr., Greg Biffle and even points leader Dale Earnhardt Jr. all would drop out due to mechanical issues as well. With drivers dropping out, wrecks would take out many as well including Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte and Steve Park.
With the race counting down, Tony Stewart found himself dominating the day leading 190 of the 367 laps but hot on his tail was Denny Hamlin, who came into Darlington winless in 2012. With two laps to go, Hamlin powered his Toyota under Johnson and took the lead and was able to hold off Johnson for the remaining two laps and score the win but also bumped himself into the Top 10 in points.
Other Noticeables: Denny Hamlin scored his 1st win of the year, Hamlin led 3 times for 12 laps, including the final 2 laps, It was the 18th win of his career in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and his first since 2011 at Michigan 32 races ago, Johnny Benson Jr., making his first start in the Cup Series since 2008, ignored team owner Curtis Key's orders to park the car after three laps and however ran a great race as he ran in the top 5 all day long before mechanical issues knocked him out of the race after only 132 laps, Carl Edwards, who finished 7th, became the new points leader, leading Ryan Newman by 4 points

A.J. Allmendinger led the field to the green but it would be Jamie McMurray who would lead the first five laps as 36 drivers battled for a chance to race in the Sprint All-Star Challenge that would be held later in the night. Big wrecks would ruin several good drivers chances including Johnny Benson Jr., Jeff Burton and Jerry Nadeau. Allmendinger would retake the lead and lead for nearly half the race before Johnny Sauter would work his way from the back of the field and into the lead as a caution late would leave the field with a ten lap dash to the checkered allowing Sauter to pull off a shocking upset.

Sprint All-Star Challenge: Segment 1
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made their next stop of the 2012 season at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, in Concord, North Carolina, for Segment 1 of the Sprint All-Star Challenge.
Kasey Kahne led the field to the green as he would lead the first lap as the first segment would be a race for survival as only drivers who finished the race without retiring from the event would advance to the second segment as a big wreck on Lap 13 would knock Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer out for a chance at one million dollars. With the green back out Kahne battled hard with Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon a battle that Gordon won just before the white flag. Going into Turn 4, Gordon reported to his team he had a flat and the next thing that happened was Gordon's car suddenly hitting the wall allowing Mark Martin to drive on by and win Segment 1.
