You remember that: at the beginning of the year, Chip Ganassi confirmed the presence of a fifth car at Sonoma and Watkins Glen. That was scrapped.
Because of the lack of sponsors, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates sold the #04, his property, for Morgan-McClure Motorsports, owned by Larry McClure.
Chris Carrier, crew chief of Mike Skinner said that "negotiations for the sale of the number were advanced from Martinsville" and that "it was a great achievement for the team".
Morgan-McClure has already confirmed drivers: Johnny Miller will run in place of Dorsey Schroeder, and David Reutimann will make a limited number of races in the season. Schroeder will go to a new team, not yet announced.
The drivers of the Indy Racing League that would run on the #04 will now be in the #39, which will be used by Scott Pruett.
