International Speedway Corporation, owner of Darlington Raceway, announced that the 1.366 mile oval will host a night race in 2004.
There will be installing reflectors on the "Lady in Black" after the Southern 500 in 2003. It's a measure to attract more people to the race, which is not selling everywhere in the stands there are certain years.
The measure like a good portion of the people who work in NASCAR. Ray Evernham, owner of Evernham Motorsports, said "the night race will leave Darlington even more challenging".
Kenny Wallace said "it's a great chance to sell more tickets to the races at Darlington".
But this did not please everyone. "Big Onion" Todd Bodine said "should focus more on repaving the track and make it more attractive to the public, and not installing reflectors. Maybe in a few years, but not now".
The Mountain Dew 400 will be the night race. If it work, can become the Southern 500.
