While the rain fell in Joliet, Robby Gordon made a press announcement that shocked many people: he will with his own team for the Busch Series in 2004.

"Take a step back, and then take two forward", Gordon said, with a certain happiness in the face.

"Since I arrived at Morgan-McClure in 2001 was a dream of mine to start my own team", Gordon said. "Unfortunately I haven't enough money to start Team Gordon in the Cup Series, then the way is to start at a lower championship".

"The victory at Daytona was a key for this to happen", he concluded.

Robby Gordon also announced that the number used will be the #55 and is looking for sponsorship.
