From NASCAR.com:
After a wreckfest of a race at Martinsville, drivers headed west to Texas for the seventh race of the season at the Texas Motor Speedway. However many things have changed over the course of a week and a shake up has happened that many saw coming.
Despite the fact that he scored a win at Auto Club, Kyle Busch's attitude peaked twice at Bristol and Martinsville, with the latter resulting in a 34th place finish, Kyle dropped once again a censored ridden rant and Joe Gibbs, owner of the #18 that fielded Kyle Busch annouced that he no longer had a job. Throughtout the week, Kyle expressed his sorrow to Gibbs but Gibbs refused to take Kyle back, resulting in Kyle bringing up his Nationwide/Truck team to the cup series. "This week at Texas, Kyle Busch Motorsports will be making it's debut with me behind the wheel."Kyle said "I think Joe Gibbs for everything but I guess it was time to move on."
Due to a no complete clause in Kyle's contract, JGR is unable to enter the #18 car at Texas and will be making an annoucement who will replace a departed Kyle.
Stewart-Haas Racing has been on a two week dominating streak, despite not winning at Auto Club, the SHR cars have led 402 out of the past 625 laps with Newman scoring the team's first win of 2012, both drivers are solidly in the Top 10 in points and will be looking to continue their dominance at Texas.
Despite his cars finishing in 21st and 28th at Martinsville, James Finch continues to have a smile on his face. With Kurt Busch in 5th in the standings, Phoenix Racing has a good chance of making their first ever Chase for the Cup and Geoffrey Bodine's performance at Martinsville proved Finch could go back to two cars." Geoffrey ran in the Top 15 all day last week before he had problems, Kurt struggled all day but I am a strong believer that this will work for us." Geoffrey was unable to be able to race due to personal matters, so Finch has tapped Bobby Hamilton Jr. to take a seat in the unsponsored Chevy. "I hope Bobby can finish well enough that we can make the field at Kansas."
Another new team that will be debuting at Texas will be Circle Sport as Joe Falk as bought the #33 team from Richard Childress and will be attempting to make their first race as Tony Raines will be in their car for this week.
The betting odds heading into the Texas race look like this:
Jeff Gordon-7-1
Jimmie Johnson-6-1
Tony Stewart-6-1
Kyle Busch-5-1
Mark Martin-5-1
Ryan Newman-4-1
