Bobby Ricky's Post-Race Analysis:
The 1992 All-Star Race may have been "One Hot Night", but the 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo 400 proved to be "One Hotter Night". Big crashes aside, Johnny Sauter getting in the way of a battle between two Chase drivers was the true highlight of the night. As soon as the 29 got Newman, I said to myself, "This cannot possibly end well." And I was right. I couldn't get to Newman or Sauter for comment after the brawl, but we shouldn't have to guess how they both felt after all this. We'll see what NASCAR does with them soon enough.
In the meantime, let me take a minute to congratulate Jon Wood on a good night for both him and his family's team. The Wood Brothers haven't been to victory lane since Elliott Sadler took them there at Bristol in March 2001, but after tonight, I'm convinced that young Jon will be the one to break that dry spell in the near future. And kudos to Dave Blaney for his second top-10 this year. Petty Enterprises has been pushed around more often than not this season, so it's nice to see them getting a break.

Ryan Newman post race statement: We had a good race today. Should have won. Thanks to Alltel, Kodak, Mobil 1, ummm, hold on... *beats up Johnny Sauter*

We go to Victory Lane, as Kevin Harvick in the #29 UPS machine has taken the victory at Richmond!
VL Interviewer: And Kevin jumps out of the car as it's a mess around here, champagne everywhere!
VLI: Kevin, what are your feelings?
KH: Wow! That was exhilarating. It sure seems like Newman had the faster car, and got caught up with Johnny--
*A live update of the brawl ensues on the screen in Victory Lane*
KH: *chuckles* There'll be some bad press on Johnny this coming week.
VLI: How do you feel about you, and RCR as a whole's, chances at the title?
KH: We're only 3 races in. Tony's looking fast, but there's a lot of opportunities for failure. With all the trouble that went on tonight, I'd be willing to bet me and Jeff are up in the Top 5. Clint has been fast lately, but the crash bug hit him.
VLI: Is there anybody you'd like to thank?
KH: Oh, yeah. Thanks to our Lord, first and foremost. Without him we wouldn't be here and having the luck we've had in our journeys. I'd like to thank UPS for coming on as a loyal sponsor, along with all the associate sponsors on this 29 team. I'd like to thank Richard, my parents and also my wife DeLana. Now let's celebrate!
VLI: That's your Chevy Monte Carlo 400 winner, Kevin Harvick. Back up to the booth.

Jack Roush statement: This week wasn't the best result overall but it's a positive sign that we had multiple top 5 cars at one point. Richmond hasn't ever been a good track for us so hopefully this leads to some more success the rest of the year.
Greg Biffle statement: Back to back top 10s so I can't really be unhappy about it. Especially since Richmond is a place I typically suck at. Hopefully we can keep this run going and grab a couple wins to get momentum for 2008.
Carl Edwards statement: 11th doesn't look great, but at the end of the day a lot of Chasers had far worse consequences for their issues than we did so I can't complain too much. We're still in it, but we need to get through next week with a top 20 finish. We've put ourselves in a place where wrecking out at Dega will basically end our chances the way these guys like Kyle and Tony are running.
Todd Kluever statement: I'm not apologizing to the 24 team. I know their fans are pissed and will think that I ran Jeff into the pit wall, but we sideswiped me and came down really late. Could I have given more room? Of course I could have, but how am I supposed to expect a car to come off the track that late. By that point, I was already committed to running right next to the pit wall. It's a shame, because we avoided the big wreck and probably would've had a top 10 in this one.
Matt Kenseth declined comment.
