2008 Season Outlook
Popular journeyman driver Dave Blaney returns to the famed #43 Dodge for a third consecutive season in 2008, still hoping to earn his first career victory and at the same time return the #43 to its glory days. Blaney regressed slightly in 2007, earning one fewer top 10 and failing to notch a top 5 result while slipping in the standings 2 spots. But, he kept the #43 clean and avoided wrecks for the most part, a big need for a team that is lighter on sponsorship this season than in years past. With the #45 dropping to part-time status, Petty Enterprises has fewer dollars rolling in and Blaney and new crew chief Jeff Meendering will have fewer resources to work with. That shouldn't change their results, though. Blaney is a wheelman, and will give it his all, and will probably end up with similar stats this season as in years past.
