Hint: This Guy.
Yes, I am back from NR2003 Purgatory. I managed to reinstall NR2003 on my new laptop, and now I'm ready to return to the world of offline leagues!
I watched a few TM Universe races, and have some new ideas. For one, in addition to my alternate history series (which is getting another reboot, though the results from 1988 will remain intact), I'm also starting two new leagues: the NASCAR Target Cup Series (Cup90), and the NASCAR AutoZone Lights Series (ASA 90). Both are open for sign-ups as soon as I can get a new section on the forums.
The story behind these two series is that they are series for younger drivers and small startup teams who can't quite afford to compete in the Sprint Cup, Xfinity Series, or Camping World Truck Series, but are also ambitious enough to compete at a national level above the Whelen Modified Series and K&N Pro Series. The series were started in 2000, with drivers using cast-off cars from the late 1980s-early 1990s from the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and ASA National Tour. Several more cars were cast-off from ARCA in 2001, many of which had chassis built in the mid-80s. The first season for both series in 2000 was broadcast exclusively on Fox, which opened the door for the deal to broadcast Winston Cup and Busch Grand National events on Fox and FX the next year.
The minimum age for drivers in the Target Cup Series is 18 for restrictor-plate tracks (of which several are on the schedule), 17 for speedways and roadcourses, and 16 for short tracks, while the minimum for the AutoZone Lights Series is 15 across the board.
For the Target Cup and AutoZone Lights series, you need to provide a name, number, team name, and car file. You are permitted to use the names of actual Winston Cup and Busch Grand National team, as they would love to these two series as a place for their younger, older, and development drivers. I do encourage you to make your own teams, though.
Target Cup Series races will be held on Sundays, while Autozone Lights Series races will be on Saturdays. There will be select night races on Saturday and Friday for both series.
I'm so glad to have the attention span to do this again!
