After years in the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series with an Celica, Toyota has officially announced its entry into a major national categories of NASCAR.
Will be the first automaker that will enter the main divisions of NASCAR in its modern period.
But the Japanese company will gradually get used to the categories. Will start in 2004 in the Truck Series; then will go to the Busch Series in 2005; and in 2006, finishing the climb, will debut in the Nextel Cup.
There is much expectation by both sides: a new automaker could put further disputes, and also increase the Japanese fan base of NASCAR.
However, some more conservative Americans oppose the entry of Toyota, because of all the problems that occurred during the Second World War.
