2008 Season Outlook
The #21 RCR Chevy in the Nationwide Series again returns for full-time duty with a quartet of drivers. Leading the way is Kevin Harvick, who will run 17 races and likely add multiple victories to his already incredible list of accomplishments in NNS. Harvick is joined by 3 development drivers: Timothy Peters, Brian Scott, and German Quiroga Jr. Peters ran 7 races last season and earned 4 top 20s, showing some decent potential that Childress hopes Harvick can draw out. Peters will expand his schedule this year and get 12 opportunities to demonstrate the talent he has. Scott, meanwhile, will run 12 races for RCR in total, with 5 starts in the #21. He's got a little bit of Truck experience under his belt, but overall he is still a relative unknown. Ole RC likes what he sees though, and generally that's a good sign. Rounding out the lineup is Quiroga Jr. He's got just one NNS start under his belt, a 28th last year at Mexico for Jay Robinson Racing. However, he did have a one-off Cup Series start last season at Montreal while Kurt Busch was injured, and won the pole and earned a top 10. It showed his tremendous ability on road courses, and Childress signed him back to NNS to help develop those skills. He'll get 4 starts overall with 2 coming in the #21, including his first oval attempt at Homestead to end the season. Overall, the #21 has quite a bit of talent, and with Harvick at the helm for 17 events, it's likely they'll make it to Victory Lane multiple times.
