It has been nearly 2 months since I last posted a race, trying to find someone to paint me some cars and thankfully I found someone and that was front78 so thanks very much to him we can get back to racing.
As drivers traveled back to the states after a successful race at Calder Park, in which Kevin Harvick won, the garage area got more crowded as two new teams will be making their debut at Richmond as well as a long time legendary owner will be making his return to the Sprint Cup Series for one night only.
Nationwide owner Curtis Key, owner of The Motorsports Group, will be attempting to make his Cup Series debut at Richmond however with a driver not many people would have guessed. "After thinking about it long and hard I will not be using my Nationwide drivers this weekend at Richmond. When you make a debut you need to make sure you leave an impact on the fans so they will remember you, so with that being said my driver for this weekends race will be none other then Steve Park." Steve Park walked into the media center to a standing ovation wearing his plain white driver's suit before he sat down to talk "I'm very excited I got the call this past week, and to get back into the Cup Series is a big deal, hopefully we get into the show and make our fans proud as well as return full time to the Cup Series."
The Sauter Family, not as successful as say the Petty's or Earnhardt's but certainly one to remember, will be making a team debut this weekend. Team owner Jim Sauter will be fielding a single car team using the number 71 famously driven by Dave Marcis. "I am a good friend to Dave and felt it was time to pay tribute to Marcis in a way as well as return to racing with my family." Jim plans on running the entire distance in all the races they compete in and the car will be fielded by his family members as well as friends of the family. "Right now the plans are for Hermie Sadler to drive the car this weekend and from then on the car will be split between Johnny, Tim, Jay as well as the future Sauter's in NASCAR, Travis and my son Jim Jr."
One of the long time legendary NASCAR Owners will be making his return for the first time since 2002 as Junie Donlavey, owner of Donlavey Racing, will be making a one race deal in a working agreement with Curtis Key. Donlavey has one career win in the Cup Series, that being in 1981 at Dover with Jody Ridley as his driver. Donlavey will tap Kevin Lepage as his driver returning with the famous #90 and will be co-owned by Curtis Key and will run a paint scheme similar to the one Key will be debuting this week. "It feels great to be back in the garage here at Richmond" Donlavey said "Key called me up this past week and offered to change one of his Nationwide cars (#46) and make it into a 90 car so I could field it one time here in my hometown, as of right now this is a one time thing I have no plans to return to NASCAR."
Here are the betting odds for the Capital City 400:
Kyle Busch-5-1
Kurt Busch-4-1
Jeff Gordon-3-1
Jimmie Johnson-3-1
Dale Earnhardt Jr.-2-1
Tony Stewart:-2-1
