2008 Season Outlook
Braun Edwards Racing's development as a NASCAR team continues in 2008 across both the Cup and Nationwide Series. On the Cup side, the team has landed championship threat Jeff Burton and is adding a second part-time team for Reed Sorenson and Boris Said. On the Nationwide side, the team continues to field two full-time cars and will have a third part-time car again in 2008, as the team begins stocking up on hot up-and-coming talents. The #32 part-time team, though, won't have any of the new prospects, but will be loaded with talent. Crew chief Wally Brown has a 16 race schedule, with 12 opportunities for Reed Sorenson to re-invent himself and 4 chances for Boris Said to land a victory at a road course race. Said's 4 races will be a lock for a top 10, barring a crash, and he'll likely be a contender for the win. Sorenson, though, is looking to recreate the reputation he once had as a future star that has taken a brutal beating in his Cup Series career. Once considered a possible future champion following a 4th place NNS campaign in 2005, Sorenson has struggled mightily in Cup, partly due to Chip Ganassi Racing's struggled. He'll take a step back this season, and should likely have multiple chances to get back to Victory Lane now that he's back in strong equipment.
