2008 Season Outlook
Another single car, low-funded operation in the Nationwide Series will operate full-time with a mishmash of drivers. Joining the likes of Mike Harmon Racing, K Automotive, and MacDonald Motorsports is Carl Long Racing, owned and driven by none other than Carl Long himself. He'll drive the #46 Dodge for exactly half of the schedule at 18 races, and 6 other drivers will get opportunities. Mexican-born Carlos Contreras will get the most of those remaining drivers with 6 races, while ARCA plate-racing expert Bobby Gerhart will tackle the three superspeedway races and Benny Gordon, the three-time Pro Cup Series champion and last season's runner-up, will race at both Dover events and at ORP. Three other drivers will get 2 races apiece: fan favorite Buckshot Jones makes his NASCAR reappearance at Atlanta in March, Canadian journeyman Trevor Boys, and up-and-coming Modified veteran Bobby Santos III. The team is not well-funded, with sponsorship for just 12 races, but on the bright side, they aren't in as bad a condition as Mike Harmon Racing. Still, 2008 will certainly be a struggle and making the race on Fridays should be the primary goal of this small team.
