2008 Season Outlook
Mr. 4-time is back. Jeff Gordon returns to the Nationwide Series after a 7-year absence. Of course, he'll still be running the #24 DuPont car full-time in the Cup Series, but he'll be making 4 cameo appearances in the #48 DuPont in NNS this season as well. He'll run at Daytona in February, Mexico, Bristol, and Charlotte in October. Joining him for 12 races is Landon Cassill. Cassill will run the races that Carl Edwards won't run in the #5 Hendrick car, giving him a Hendrick car for 23 races this season. The crew chief for this team will be Matt Puccia, an up-and-comer in the crew chief world that Hendrick nabbed this offseason. While Gordon doesn't run much in NNS, he's still a threat to win every time he starts a race in any series, so he'll be a Victory Lane contender in his races. Cassill is far more inexperienced, though, and will have some adjustments to make in order to be successful. He's got tremendous upside, though, and will have the best equipment out there, so a few top 10s should not come as a total surprise.
