2008 Season Outlook
Unsurprisingly, Steven Wallace will once again pilot the #66 HomeLife Communities Ford full-time in the Nationwide Series. When your dad's the team owner, it's pretty hard to get fired. At the very minimum, it would make for quite the awkward Thanksgiving dinner. All kidding aside, Wallace does have some talent. Coming from the Wallace family, that's a given, but having a 2-time Cup champion as a mentor is a pretty good deal as well. While he's had 52 career NNS starts and hasn't gotten a top 10 yet, his potential was demonstrated last year with the 2 pole awards he won. Clearly on qualifying day, he's got the speed. Where he's lacking right now is the consistency to perform well on raceday. In particular, he's shown a propensity to crash more than his fair share. But, he is just 20 years old this upcoming season, so with a young driver, it's not unexpected. What will be expected this season, however, is an improvement in the stat line. With veteran crew chief Harold Holly coming on board, fans and team owners across the sport know that Wallace will have good setups underneath him and it will be up to him to perform. With a full season under his belt, there's a good chance he will improve. How much, though, is yet to be determined.
