2008 Season Outlook
Truck Series stalwart Red Horse Racing, owned by Tom DeLoach, is forced to enter the Nationwide Series this season due to the closure of the former. What won't change, however, is the lack of sponsorship for the team. Though the #71 does have sponsorship for 6 races, there are 4 slots still without funding, nearly half of the schedule. None of the sponsorship deals are long-term, either, which is another cause for concern. Regardless, though, the team will still perform well as they typically do. RHR is known for making a mountain out of a molehill, so to speak, so they'll continue on, business as usual. The driver for this #71 team will be journeyman Brent Sherman, who has just 1 top 10 in 61 career starts. DeLoach told reporters at the signing that the team was looking for someone with experience but not a whole lot of success so that the two could partner together and build their image and brand from scratch. If the two do find success, that will absolutely occur. While Sherman is a mystery, it's almost a guarantee that the #71 will run decent regardless of who's driving. Because of that, fans should expect Sherman to be mildly competitive, but probably not a top 10 contender when he makes the show.
