2008 Season Outlook
The #77 Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevy will feature a stark contrast of inexperience versus experience this upcoming season. The driver running the most races is Truck Series veteran Brendan Gaughan, who gets the nod for 16 races, in part due to his bringing family funding to cover the entire 2008 schedule. Gaughan, however, despite his NASCAR longevity, has just 1 career NNS start. While he isn't a serious full-time Rookie contender, he'll actually be accruing points toward his ROTY ranking when he races because of his lack of experience. Next up on the roster is another Truck vet, Ron Hornaday Jr. He'll drive in 12 races, but unlike Gaughan, Hornaday has plenty of NNS experience with 177 races. The other longtime veteran joining KHI is Tony Raines, who with 192 career starts is actually the most experienced. He'll run for 5 races, and the schedule will be filled out by K&N West Series up-and-comer David Mayhew. He'll run three short track races as he prepares to take his career to the next level. Overall, while Gaughan is inexperienced in NNS, he's got plenty of NASCAR experience, making this one of the more experienced teams in NNS. With Mayhew the only question mark, expect the #77 to perform very well on a consistent basis.
