Valvoline sponsoring Evernham team in 2008 Ray Evernham has announced that longtime NASCAR supporter Valvoline has signed a 3 year contract to sponsor his #9 team in Nationwide Series competition beginning with 2008. "We are very excited to have a longstanding stalwart of a sponsor in Valvoline partnering with our race team", said Evernham. "They have a proud history in NASCAR and we hope to continue their success next season and the years after that". Valvoline will replace Unilever brands on the #9 car, which Evernham said will be manned by Kasey Kahne, Scott Riggs, Chase Miller, and Patrick Carpentier and will run a full season. The biggest question mark that remain with the team lie on the Cup Series side of the spectrum, with one seat to fill and a sponsorship to be acquired for Riggs. The #19 Sherwin-Williams seat should "hopefully be filled within the next couple of months" in Evernham's words. Of course, the entire race team will have to decide on a manufacturer, with Dodge looking to renew but Ford and Toyota reportedly knocking on the door attempting to win the team away.
