J.C. Penney sponsoring RCR's #21 in 2008 Richard Childress Racing announced this morning that department store J.C. Penney has agreed to sponsor its #21 Chevrolet car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series beginning with the 2008 season. The #21, which won the 2006 Busch Series Championship with driver Kevin Harvick, will also see a new face behind the wheel as RCR has signed Brian Scott through 2008 as a development driver. Scott will join Harvick and fellow development driver Timothy Peters next season as the three will split the 35-race schedule but compete for the owner's championship. "It's great to be able to add a driver with the talent of Brian to our roster here at RCR. He's got a lot of potential, and we look forward to much success in the coming seasons," said owner Richard Childress. "Partnering with Richard Childress Racing is an opportunity we couldn't pass up," said Myron E. Ullman, CEO of J.C. Penney. "They have a proven track record of success, particularly on this #21 team, and we know our relationship will only bring more of that success both on and off the racetrack." Childress did not elaborate on any other silly season news relating to his team, but did say that there are contracts finalized that can't quite be announced yet. (NASCAR.com) (4/4/07)
