2006 Bud Shootout Recap
Oh boy the shootout was a thriller. Unfortunately the cameras malfunctioned, so we don't have footage. I thought I told the cameramen to check them before the race Anyways Ryan Newman won the bud shootout, after getting to the front in the closing stages of the race. Geoffery Bodine surprisingly ran up towards the front most of the race, until falling to 22nd in the closing stages. While Dale Earnhardt Jr. slipped back quickly and unusually was only able to manage 18th. Denny Hamlin was as high as third and finishes a respectable 8th, a great way to start his ROTY campaign. Final Standings1st Ryan Newman 12 2nd Jimmie Johnson 48 3rd Joe Nemecheck 01 4th Micheal Waltrip 55 5th Kevin Harvick 29 6th Matt Kenseth 17 7th Tony Stewart 20 8th Denny Hamlin 11 9th Dale Jarett 88 10th Elliott Sadler 38 11th Jeff Gordon 24 12th Carl Edwards 99 13th Ken Schrader 21 14th Kyle Busch 18 15th Bill Elliott 91 16th Brian Vickers 25 17th Mark Martin 6 18th Dale Earnhardt Jr 8 19th Terry Labonte 96 20th Kasey Kahne 9 21st Scott Riggs 10 22nd Geoffery Bodine 93 23rd Jamie McMurray 26

So I was just doing the math, and only 4 red drivers can race their way in. Out of 24-25 red drivers. This should be interesting.

Actually 6 cars can make it in. The 10 and 13 were not supposed to be locked in. Thanks for catching that!
Still, alot of cars will have to miss the race. This makes the pressure even higher.
There are no speed provisional , only a past champions provisional. The provisional user will start 42nd and last. If both eligible cars transfer in. Then the next highest car in the duels gets the spot
Lets say 3 cars transferred into the race, while 4th place in duel 1 was 13 Greg Sacks ,who finished 14th, 4th place in duel 2 was Scott Riggs, who finished 10th. Assuming both Labonte and Elliott transfer in, the 42nd and final starting spot would go to Scott Riggs as 10 is higher than 14th
1-2 locked in via qualifying 3-41 determined by Gatorade Duels (INCLUDES TRANSFERS) 42 Past Champion provisional/7th transfer

I still need to figure out how to calculate Points Per Race, so I can give the cars proper ratings. Then I'll Start the qualifying.
Good Choices, I recall in real life, Scott Riggs missed the Daytona 500 and still did pretty darn well.
My underdog pick would be Kevin Lepage and the 61 team.

I'm pulling for the 09 car, I've always loved the Phoenix Racing team, so under-rated for a single car team and it's a shame it never went to victory lane more then once in the cup series.
