Race #11 - Pinty's 250
It was a cloudy day in Fraserville, Ontario, Canada as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series entered the 11th and final Round at the Kawartha Speedway for the Pinty's 250.
D.J. Kennington led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first lap as only three cautions would fly during the whole race as second in points J.R. Fitzpatrick would dominate the day, leading the most laps and appeared to be on his way to win both the race and championship. However during the late stages of the race, Fitzpatrick's car stalled on track, losing a lap and would never be able to recover. Steven Mathews would easily hold onto the lead late in the event and score his second win of the year and second in his career, while Louis-Philippe Dumoulin would cross the start/finish line in 13th and would win the championship by a mere 4 points over J.R. Fitzpatrick.

Steven Mathews finished 7th in the real race, while J.R. Fitzpatrick (who finished 17th here) won.
And L.P. Dumoulin also won the championship over Fitzpatrick in real life, but the real-life difference was three points.
So yeah, pretty close were real life and the simulation, Oreius!

I still find it hard to believe that the pole sitters/winners/championship contenders often match real life. What voodoo do you do?

2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Year End Review
For the fourth time ever, I simulated the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and it was as fun to do something I don't see a lot of people doing. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, who would win the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship on the strength of one victory, would lead the point standings for 5 of the 11 events and would beat J.R. Fitzpatrick by 4 points in the closest title chase ever in the history of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and also prevent D.J. Kennington from scoring his third straight championship. Eight different drivers would score victories in 2014 including four who won for the very first time while Scott Steckly failed to score a win for the first time since the series was bought by NASCAR.
During the year there were several exciting moments like when Andrew Ranger beat Scott Steckly in the closest finish in the history of the series at Autodrome St. Eustache but there were also some unexciting races like when Andrew Ranger also won at Circuit ICAR by leading all 30 laps, which had the lowest attendance record of less then 800 that broke a NASCAR record that had been in place since 1957.
Below are the stats for the 2014 year and the official close to the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Here is hoping that 2015 is as fun as well!
