My Race:
The second race on the schedule would take us to North Carolina. I didnt qualify that great here, I started in 26th position. I had a decent car on the long run though, but early on someone got into the back of me on the straightaway and got pushed into the wall.. Had Dale Jr. coming and hit me hard in the bumper that put me in last with a big gap to catch up.
I ended up catching up though and was in the T15 before the first caution came out, problems again in the pits though when the yellow came out as soon as I got into the pits. In the end though It worked out better for me then those who pit a few laps before me because I came out in the top 15 again. 4 Drivers who didnt pit had the luck as they stayed on the lead lap.
Overall Race Information:
Lap 11
I was on the straightaway here and did not see Jimmy, on my side so he either got into me or I drifted into him slightly, right after this I went into the wall and came back down and Dale Jr. would soon run into me.
Me & Dale both lost control after he hit my car, he had too much speed to slow down after I hit the wall. This put me around 10 seconds off the rest of the field but I would end up catching up slowly.
Lap 49
Matt Kenseth got pushed in the bumper and went into the turn 4 wall by Skinner... No caution was ever brought out as he got right back on the throttle and continued on.
Lap 67 of 99
This is when most the field got changed around and the drivers who didnt stop yet for tires & fuel paid off for them. About 60% of the field pitted already and were in the process of pitting and there was an accident in turn 3.
Brett bodine got hard into Dale jarret pushing him up into the wall. Seconds later incoming drivers hit the #88 sliding down the track, causing 2 additional cars to take damage and lose time. When this happened I just was getting into pit road, I ended up coming out in 15th.
But four drivers still stayed out before this happened letting them pit under yellow lapping everyone else.
Checkered Flag
Overall only 4 drivers were on the lead lap from the bad timing on the yellow, 20 drivers were two or more laps down. I managed a P5 after hard charging to the front as much as I could but couldnt lap the top 4 guys with the amount of time left.
Joe Gibbs racing had a good day with drivers finishing in first and second, and a surprise top 5 finish for Pressley in the P3 spot.
