The fourth race of the season takes us to Atlanta, one note about the AI at this race. I usually only test their top speed during practice runs but I dont do full session testing. So this first season will be a good way to tweak their races during real racing to test tire wear and their speeds. I noticed here their tires fell off really quickly, which gave me an unfair advantage. So I will be tweaking this for the next time we race here.
Jeff gordon started on the Pole and Mike Thomson started outside of him. I got a good jump during the first lap and took the lead right away... Things went smoothly for awhile.
Lap 27
There was a smoking car running by theirself which turned out to be Steve park, he started going slow right in the main line and Tony Stewart was the first to run into him... Then you can see the accordion effect with cars behind them. They eventually got control and moved on but other cars were coming fast from behind.
The speed of the cars took them outwards towards the outer wall, I was just running past them but did not clear steve park he ended up taking me and another car out. I had minor damage and pit when the yellow came out.
Lap 37
After the first caution came out I (#128) was running in the main pack in about 18th there was a lot of traffic and Tony Stewart barely got into the back of me but it upset my car and I went right up the track and this took out the #10 Johnny Benson.
Lap 67
Yeah so problems again for the #10, just looked like that Matt Kenseth was being too aggressive he pretty much ran the #10 off the road and up into the outer wall.
Oncoming cars directly after that slammed into the #10 sliding down the track, this later would end the day for Mark Martin due to engine issues from the collision. Johnny Benson ended up finishing in 23rd a lap down despite all of the issues he had today.
Checkered Flag
I took a second win already, as mentioned though the AI tires falling off quickly could of been better so it was not that competitive. If i wasnt involved in two accidents it would of been kind of boring.
Notable Mentions Comparable to the Real race at that time:
- Kevin harvick won the real race, in mine he finished 3rd... So not much difference there.
- Standings at this point had Jeff Gordon in First in my Season he is currently in 4th with 553 points.
- Bobby Hamilton who finished 2nd in my race, had a mediocre day in the real race only finishing 22nd
