Race 22 of the 36 week schedule seen us at Watkins glen, one of the two road courses we have.
Things got off to a bad start for Michael Waltrip and Ron Fellows, Waltrip went well off into the grass in the first turn and got stuck in the Sand trap... This would be his second bad road start this year, he had a DNF at Sonoma. Fellows got on the bad end of contact and that also put him in the sand trap.
From there things went smooth for the most part, on my end of the race I started towards the end of the field in 30th, but was able to pass slower drivers 1 or 2 at a time per lap. I came out just in 11th when the field evened out on green flag pit stops... But I hit a wall once i got to 10th... Steve Park and Rusty wallace were both fighting but I couldnt get past either of them.. I could creep up to their bumpers but they would beat me pretty good on the first straights. Then the yellow came out towards the end of the race and managed to finish 11th.
Debut Driver for the 2001 season Boris Said managed a top 10 finish. Pruett also starting for the first time finished 18th. Ron Fellows, Rick Mast & Brian Simo all finished towards the end of the field for their Debuts.
