This was a pretty tough race for me, the AI were very quick and aggressive on new tires. I started pretty far back and could really only make ground after I got new tires before everyone else. I pretty much went to the back of the field at the start after getting into the wall. As mentioned in the Race news thread, I ran the new track and I think the AI are optimized for the sprint cars and not these winston cars so they were a bit too quick for the 2001 season. Either way the race went without any cautions and once I got a handle on my car I managed to pass a lot of cars on new tires. As you know here at Charlotte there is a big difference in speed on old versus new tires, so I made the most out of my new tires. I was up to around top 10 at one point but once everyone else pitted I tried holding off as many cars as I could before my stop was coming up again. I managed to finish 22nd, but that is almost 9 positions then I should of finished. The last lap I got into an accident and all the lead lap cars passed me. Tony Stewart was a blur at this track, he was the fastest car out there leading 79 of the 85 laps. Jeff Gordon had headaches again dropping 29 positions to finish 41st. Burton who was 2nd in points finished 3rd. I didnt get any images at this track as there wasnt much to highlight with no cautions except my accident on the last lap. But should have some on the next race. DNQs: #45 Kyle Petty #31 Robby Gordon #44 Buckshot Jones Results (click for full)
