Xpress Motorsports to move to Cup with Compton Dave Fuge, owner of Xpress Motorsports, announced this morning that his Craftsman Truck Series team will move the Sprint Cup Series at the beginning of the 2008 season, and will run 12-14 races with Stacy Compton behind the wheel of the #61 Ford Fusion. Xpress was formed in 1996 by Steve Coulter, who sold the team to Fuge in 2004. In the Truck Series, the team earned 12 victories and back-to-back championships in 2002 and 2003 with Mike Bliss and Travis Kvapil behind the wheel of the #16. With #16 taken by Roush Racing, Fuge said he'll use the #61, which has been used by the organization in the past and in fact, was the organization's first number. "I'm glad that I'm getting another chance at the Cup Series level, even if it is part-time," said Stacy Compton. "The opportunity I had in the past obviously didn't pan out, but I think the COT is going to end up driving very similarly to the trucks, so I would say we could be a sleeper team in '08". The team is actively looking for sponsorship and encourages any and all interested partners to e-mail marketing@xpressmotorsports.com. (Speedway Media) (4/25/07)
