The CART Series made their 6th stop of 1980 at the Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Michigan, for the Norton 200.
Bobby Unser led the field to the Green as the fans in attendance were given a great show as the battle for the lead was between the Unser brothers and points leader Johnny Rutherford. With not a single caution flying, drivers had one chance to make chances to their cars as Rutherford would wait to make his move with fifteen laps to go and would go on to score his fourth win of the year in six races.

Race #7 - Kent Oil 150
The CART Series made their 7th stop of 1980 at Watkins Glen International, in Watkins Glen, New York, for the Kent Oil 150.
Bobby Unser led the field to the Green as for the second year in a row, drivers raced on the legendary road course at Watkins Glen. Unser would swap the lead early with Tom Sneva but after a round of pit stops, he would reclaim the lead after a short battle with points leader Johnny Rutherford. Having scored his first career CART Series win one year prior on the road course at Trenton, Unser would use that past experience and would hold off Tom Sneva for his second win of the year.

Race #8 - Tony Bettenhausen 200
The CART Series made their 8th stop of 1980 at the Milwaukee Mile, in West Allis, Wisconsin, for Tony Bettenhausen 200.
Bobby Unser led the field to the green flag for the third race in a row as for the second time in 1980 drivers raced at the Milwaukee Mile. Unser would lead early before points leader Johnny Rutherford would have his turn at the lead. Hot conditions led to several drivers dropping out to due mechanical issues as Rick Mears, the 1979 CART Series Champion would work his way into the lead around the first half of the race. As no cautions would fly during the last hundred laps, Mears put on a great showing, battling with Bobby Unser for much of the last half of the event, and would go on to score his first win of 1980.
