McCumbee signs 2-year development deal with JGR Joe Gibbs Racing announced today that the team has signed Chad McCumbee, currently a driver for Green Light Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, to a development deal in which McCumbee will drive the #20 Toyota part-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. McCumbee will join Cup driver J.J. Yeley for the full season, as the two will split the #20 in a to-be-determined schedule. In addition, Joe Gibbs told reporters that he has reached an agreement with video game retailer GameStop for primary sponsorship of the #20. "We're really happy to be able to land Chad and GameStop for our #20 team", said team official J.D. Gibbs. "After finalizing our deal with Toyota and solidifying our development in the minor leagues, we feel that we are in a really good place as a team". "JGR is a great place for me to be", said McCumbee. "They've got a lot of great things going on especially with the recent news regarding Toyota, and I'm really excited for next year to start". The team will also field the #18 Toyota full-time, which will be shared by Cup driver Bobby Labonte and 2 other development drivers, Kevin Conway and Brad Coleman. (ESPN.com) (5/2/07)
