Hmmm...lotta big surprises here. Nemechek in the 4? R.G. in the 19? What happened was that the #33 shut down at the end of 2001, going to the #4. Robby was released by the #4 5 races short of the end of the year.

I'll use this as a silly season threadLyndon Amick kicked out of Carroll RacingAfter struggles within the first 8 races which saw poor driving, Lyndon Amick had been kicked out of Carroll Racing's #26 Dr.Pepper Chevy. In 8 races, the team had yet to score a top 10 in any races, with an average finish of 31.25. In comparison, last year saw the team achieve 3 top 10s in the same period of time with Bobby Hamilton Jr. The team is currently 31st in owner points, making them at risk of failing to qualify, a huge blow to the team. Ron Hornaday Jr. will drive at both California and Richmond. Plans for the future are unknown.

Hornaday, Elder to split ride for the rest of the year
This morning, Dave Carroll, owner of Carroll Motorsports and the #26 Dr. Pepper Chevy, has announced the plans for the rest of the year. Ron Hornaday, after his win at Richmond, has been signed to drive all companion races for the remainder of the year. This includes all races with a Cup race the following day on the same track, as well as the spring Loudon race, as it is held on a rare off-week for the Cup series. Christian Elder will drive all the non-companion races. The 34-year-old from Minnesota had raced part-time for Brad Akin's team last year. In 17 races, Elder managed 1 top 5, 4 top 10s, 41 laps led, and one pole. His best performance came at the season-ending race at Homestead, where he won the pole, led 39 of 50 laps, and finished 2nd to his race- and championship-winning teammate Elton Sawyer. It will be very interesting to see how the team will perform with two different drivers splitting the schedule. As for sponsorship, Dr. Pepper is signed as the primary sponsor until the end of 2003.
