Pruett finished 5th in the real race, while Al Unser Jr. won.

To keep things fair with actual IROC rules, the starting lineup for the third race will be the point standings but inverted.

The IROC Series made their 4th and final stop of 1987 at the Watkins Glen International, in Watkins Glen, New York.
For the second time in IROC Series history, drivers raced at the two mile Watkins Glen International road course. Michael Andretti would lead the field to the green and would lead the first lap, while moving up from his tenth starting spot was Geoffrey Bodine, who was trying to gain as many points as possible to catch championship leader Scott Pruett, with Bodine taking the lead on Lap 3 and pulling away to a huge lead over the rest of the race as Bodine was unchallenged, scoring his second win of the season. However it wasn't enough, as Pruett crossed the line in 3rd, and becoming the 1987 IROC Series Champion.
Other Noticeables: Geoffrey Bodine scored his 2nd win of the year, Bodine led 1 time for 28 laps, which were the final 28 laps, It was the 2nd win of his career in the IROC Series in his first since Mid-Ohio; 2 races ago, Scott Pruett, who finished 3rd, is the 1987 IROC Series Champion, winning the title by 12 points over Geoffrey Bodine
