Race #1
The IROC Series made their 1st stop of 1987 at the Daytona International Speedway, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
NASCAR star Darrell Waltrip led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first lap before chaos broke out on the Backstretch as all twelve drivers were involved in a "big one", all twelve cars got damaged but only Geoffrey Bodine had been knocked out. Bobby Rahal had taken the lead and would lead for much of the first quarter of the event before his camshaft broke, handing the lead over to Wally Dallenbach Jr. who was making his series debut. Dallenbach would swap the lead with Scott Pruett, who was also making his series debut, as both drivers would swap the lead ten times with Dallenbach leading on the final lap. Pruett held back on the final lap, waiting for the last moment, passing Dallenbach in Turn 4 and held on to score the win.

Pruett finished 11th in the real race, while Geoff Bodine won.
Also, the real race didn't have any big crash involving the entire field.

Race #2
The IROC Series made their 2nd stop of 1987 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio.
For the third time in series history, drivers raced at the 2.400 mile road course, NASCAR star Geoffrey Bodine led the field to the Green Flag and would quickly pull away from the field, but right on his back bumper was Bobby Rahal. At Daytona in the last round, Bodine was taken out in a early crash while Rahal suffered camshaft problems late in the race, this time both drivers drove way from everyone else and battled all over the track, with Bodine always holding off Rahal, and would do so for every single lap, to score his first career IROC Series win in just his second start.

Geoffrey Bodine scored his 1st win of the year,
Bodine led 1 time for 29 laps, which was every single lap,
It was the 1st win of his career in the IROC Series in his 2nd start,

Race #3
The IROC Series made their 3rd stop of 1987 at the Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Michigan.
USAC star Al Unser led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first ten laps before his son took the lead for a lap before NASCAR star Darrell Waltrip took over and would lead for a few laps before a broken valve knocked Waltrip out of the race. Up front that left the Unser family to swap the lead with Daytona race winner Scott Pruett, who had started in the last spot when the green came out. Pruett had worked his way into first by lap 14 and after passing father Al Unser, Pruett was on defense, always keeping both Unser's behind him, and would hold on to score his second win of 1987.

Pruett led 4 times for 34 laps, including the final 26 laps,
It was the 2nd win of his career in the IROC Series and his first since Daytona; 2 races ago,
