Race #11 - Sandlapper 200

The NASCAR Grand National East Series made their 10th stop of 1972 at the Columbia Speedway, in Cayce, South Carolina, for the Sandlapper 200.

Richard Childress led the field to the green flag after qualifying had been set by the sign-in time drivers arrived at the track and would lead the first two laps before being passed by Buddy Baker. Several early cautions would keep the drivers close to each other, while Baker briefly lost the lead during pit stops to Frank Sessoms before regaining it back. Once the green waved, Baker would show his own talent in racing by keeping all drivers behind him for nearly all race long, scoring the win in his first career start.

The NASCAR Grand National East Series made their 12th stop of 1972 at the Hickory Speedway, in Hickory, North Carolina, for the Buddy Shuman 300.

Bobby Isaac led the field to the green flag and would quickly jump out into a big lead around the 0.363 mile short track and would start lapping drivers by fiftieth lap as Isaac used his past experience at the track as Isaac would keep command of the lead, losing it only during rounds of pit stops to Benny Parsons and Wayne Andrews, as Isaac would lap all but both drivers and would lead 285 of the event's 300 laps to score his second win of 1972.

The NASCAR Grand National East Series made their 13th stop of 1972 at the Bowman Gray Stadium, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the Myers Brothers Memorial 250.

Max Berrier led the field to the green flag as he would use the power of his Junie Donlavey owned Ford around the quarter mile short track as Berrier would start lapping drivers just past the halfway mark while Baxter Price and points leader Jimmy Vaughn would cut into his lead thanks to lap traffic before the event's second and final caution came out. When the green flag came back out, Berrier would build up a lead again as Berrier would use lap traffic to slow down his challengers over the final fifty laps and would easily go on to score a dominating win.

The NASCAR Grand National East Series made their 14th stop of 1972 at the Lonesome Pine Speedway, in Coeburn, Virginia, for the Coalminers 100.

Bobby Isaac led the field to the green flag but it was Buck Baker who would lead the first lap before Isaac took the lead back one lap later as an early caution would keep the field on Isaac's bumper as throughout the race multiple cautions would come out due to crashes, stalled cars and spins, all the while Isaac would keep calm and command of the lead, and when the fifth and final caution came out on Lap 150, Isaac would build up on his lead, lapping every single driver at least once and would led all but one lap to score his third win of 1972.
