Hello all who may be reading. I am jbraun57, and one of my most beloved series that I ever ran will be making a return in 2020.
Bigger, better, and more ambitious. The reboot of the TND Weekly Racing Series is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and with the acquisition of a new PC, there has been a lot of file collecting, sorting, and work done to even get this far. I used to host all the results, news, points, etc. on my website, but I figured since I have a forum here, I can just do it through here.
TND WEEKLY RACING SERIES HISTORY
It all started in August of 2014 with my old laptop. I sought to create a series that implemented elements of the weekly dirt track racing scene into a game where it has rarely been done.
I started off with 5 tracks. Dakota (dakota_dirt_70), Accord (358_Accord), Minnesota (Minnesota Dirt), Knoxville, and Moose River. Those will always be the 5 original tracks and have a special place in my heart. I ran Dakota and Accord as Friday tracks, Minnesota on Saturday, and Knoxville and Moose River on Sunday. I started off with only using the Modifieds (358 Big Block). As I got to the middle of the season, I also added Hobby Stocks in as a support class at some of the races. Eventually, life got in the way, and the series was put to the backburner. I attempted to reboot the series in 2017, but the fire was not there and it didn't get very far.
There is no actual boundaries in the world this is set in. After all, it is a video game, and doing it that way makes it more feasible to be a connected series with the small percentage of real dirt track stuff made for the game. Also, it is very fun to create my own head canon of racing families and teams and how everything connects in that respect.
I had gotten 35 total race dates (48 total races) in before the series shut down. Here are the Top 30 in Modified point standings after those 35 races:
1. 87 Brad Cornthwaite, 35-1183; 2. 21 Cody James, 35-1147; 3. 9 Matt Sheppard, 34-1117; 4. 10 Tim Currier, 34-1104; 5. 7 Steven Paine, 35-1103; 6. 77 Danny Coral, 34-1088; 7. 98 Jerry Lepage, 33-1087; 8. 78 Jeff Marble Jr., 35-1078; 9. 75 Jay Neels, 35-1030; 10. 42 Avery Dodson, 33-963; 11. 62 Joseph Onesto, 35-948; 12. 89 Jimmy Phelps, 29-886; 13. 55 Matt Miraglia, 32-869; 14. 99 Ryan Phelps, 33-863; 15. 84 Andy Margo, 32-823; 16. 22 Eric Nordhoff, 30-767; 17. 0 Bobby Varin, 32-714; 18. 21X Aaron Turnbull, 20-698; 19. 85 John Pietrowicz, 29-696; 20. 73 Ron Larkin Jr., 29-694; 21. 1 - 62 Joseph Onesto, 46 Aaron Maynard, 81 Stephan Reinert, 97 Darryl Matlock, 72 Malcolm Pierce
A Modifieds (358 Modifieds mod) - 90 Registered Racers
The premier class for where it started, the Modifieds will have some deep competition by bumping up the numbers from 75 to 90 racers. That is without running a race as well, as there is bound to be more drivers to either run a one-off race or buy their own ride and race throughout the season. Will be running weekly at all 6 weekly tracks.
Late Models (358 Late Models mod) - 47 Registered Racers
Late Models are the most powerful class that will be running in the Weekly Racing Series. All weekly tracks will be running the Late Models.
B Modifieds (358 Modifieds mod) - 50 Registered Racers
B Modifieds are a new addition to the series for 2020. This is a stepping stone class from the lower divisions up into a Modified car. All weekly tracks will be running the B Mods.
Hobby Stocks (Hobby Stock mod) - 69 Registered Racers
Hobby Stocks are back, and their numbers also increased. There are many racers with cars that are not registered as of now. Hobby Stocks will be featured at all weekly programs.
Hornets (Hornet mod) - 23 Registered Racers
There definitely could be a few more racers in this beginner class, but there will no doubt be new guys building cars throughout the season and joining the Hornet fields. 5 out of the 6 weekly tracks will be running the Hornets.
Vintage Cars (Dirt55 mod) - 29 Registered Racers
These cars add a little bit of flair to the race programs as the old style body will be sure to catch the attention of some crowds. These vintage cars will be run weekly, alternating between tracks every other week.
Trucks (cws15 mod) - 37 Registered Racers
This will be a fun class to start. They will be running a more abbreviated schedule than the rest of the classes, but they are the trial class. Huge room for growth as the cws15 mod is still the go-to mod for the NASCAR Truck Series IRL. Comprised mostly of fictional drivers grabbed from truck sets.
SCHEDULE PREVIEW
This schedule is gonna be really fun to work through and it will hopefully improve as time goes on and seasons get ran.
The 6 weekly tracks are:
Friday - Dakota and Accord
Saturday - Minnesota and Beaver Dam
Sunday - Knoxville and Moose River
So that's right. About the same concept shell as before, just with an added track on Saturday.
Total Scheduled Shows per class
A Modifieds - 146 races, 102 possible points nights, (so 44 are double - nights with multiple tracks running the class)
410 Sprint Cars - 31 points nights
360 Sprint Cars - 66 points nights
Super Late Models - 43 points nights
Late Models - 132 races, 97 points nights, 35 double
B Modifieds - 147 races, 103 points nights, 44 double
Hobby Stocks - 135 races, 91 points nights, 44 double
Hornets - 112 races, 82 points nights, 30 double
Vintage Cars - 87 points nights
Micro Sprints - 69 points nights
Trucks - 36 points nights
I'm still figuring out logistics, but I'm thinking that the best 50 points nights will count towards their point total. Trucks will be best 25 nights.

There is still some things to tidy up before I start the season. Hopefully everything goes well with all of the tracks that I didn't test extensively, and if not, I will just have to do some tweaking to see what I can do to bring competitive racing to the NR2003 dirt surfaces.
