Ladies and gentleman welcome to the Canes NASCAR Cup Series this is different from the last one as I wasn't having fun anymore with the other one. In this one there are 50% races 2x Fuel and tire wear. Canes Shootout Recap
Welcome to the CNCS Mega Series and the first race is a 40 lap dash at Daytona between the 20 best Canes NASCAR Cup Series drivers!

The race started with Max Reinholm on the pole with Hayley Zaffrano on the outside.

GREEN FLAG!

Matt Peyton leads the first lap of CNCS competition.

On Lap 5 an incident involving Paul Jones, Matt Peyton, Max Reinholm and others occurs in turn 3, the race would remain green.

Ross Mitchell established himself as the leader early in the event.

First green flag pitstops began on Lap 16.

Ross Mitchell cycled out with the lead with the #66 of Blake Barnes hot on his tails.

Barnes passed Mitchell to lead at the half way mark.

The large pack behind the 2 leaders caught up to them on Lap 27.

Rachel Paisley would lead with 10 laps to go.

Final pit stops began on Lap 31.

Eddie Hall cycled out with the lead and led with 5 to go.

Eddie Hall takes the white with Ryan Young and Quinn Stevenson right behind him.

The group couldn't get organized and Eddie Hall starts off speedweeks by winning the Canes Shootout!

Canes Duel #1 RECAP
The first Canes duel was a good one to watch and filled with action and it started with Brandon DeMarco and Mat Rodgers on the front row.

GREEN FLAG!

No one car established their dominance early and lead changed hand several times.

Mat Rodgers leads at the half way mark.

pit stops began on Lap 17.

Kaleb Ventura cycles out with the lead and leads with 10 and 5 to go.

Quinn Stevenson takes the white with Eddie Hall and Adam Trachsel hot on his heels.

Eddie Hall makes a last lap pass and wins the 1st Canes Duel! With this win many consider Hall as the favorite for the 500.

Canes Duel #2 RECAP
Here is all that happened in 2nd Canes Duel to determine the starting lineup for the Daytona 500. It started with Rachel Paisley and Joseph Saylor on the front row.

GREEN FLAG!

Ward Westin established his lead early in the race.

A crash on Lap 15 involved Wes Masterson, Mark Travis, and Shane Dillon occurred, ending Dillon's night.

Most cars pitted under the caution.

Bryan Tyler lad the field to the green.

Cars that had not yet pitted came on Lap 20.

Ryan Hamilton led at the half way mark.

The 2nd and final caution came out on Lap 23 when Rick Vancovsky was stopped on the apron.

Gary Van Nort led the field to green with 3 laps to go.

Van Nort takes the white.

Gary Van Nort wins the 2nd Canes Duel!

DAYTONA 500 RECAP
It's the biggest race of the season and eventful it certainly was and it started with Kyle Spraker and Mark Travis on the front row.

GREEN FLAG!

Max Reinholm leads the first lap of the CNCS season.

Great pack racing early.

First round of pit stops began on Lap 17.

Max Reinholm cycled out with the lead.

2nd round of pit stops began on Lap 33.

Once again Reinholm cycled out with the lead.

Rachel Paisley led at the half way mark.

The next round of pit stops began on Lap 52.

Vincent Alton cycled out with the lead.

On Lap 55 Matt Peyton clips Kyle Spraker and spins down the back bringing out the first yellow of the day.

While cars were coming together an accordion effect occurred heavily damaging Ryan Young and Max Reinholm.

Vincent Alton led the field back to green.

Next round of pit stops began on Lap 72.

On Lap 75 a scary crash occurred involving Gus St. Pierre, Mark Travis, and others.

In the chaos Mark Travis was nailed by Kyle Spraker. The race was temporarly halted to get Mark Travis out of the car. Travis was AWAKE AND ALERT while talking with medical staff. Travis was taken to a nearby hospital and update on his condition will be provided at a later time. Kyle Spraker was also taken to the hospital. He was released earlier today, and both Spraker and Great American Racing confirmed he will race next week in Las Vegas.

Ryan Hamilton led the field back to the green.

Another scary accident on Lap 82 involved several drivers including Nick O'Donnell going upside down. Thankfully all the drivers involved were ok.

Final yellow flag pit stops occurred on Lap 83.

Ryan Hamilton won the race off pit road.

Jess McNeal stayed out and led the field to green.

Ross Mitchell led with 10 laps to go.

Ryan Hamilton led with 5 laps to go.

Joey Dorrance takes the white flag.

Joey Dorrance and Tornado Motorsports wins the Daytona 500!

STANDINGS AFTER RACE 1/36

Thought and prayers are with Mark Travis and his family, once again an update on his condition will be provided soon. Next week we head to Las Vegas for the Penzoil 400.

Statement from Martin-Nichols Racing:

"First off we would like to thank the outpouring of love and support for Mike and his family during this difficult time. After further testing was conducted it was determined that Mike has a concussion and he will be out for at least the next 2 races, at that point we will consult Mike and his doctors for when he can get back in the car. In the mean time we would like to announce that Sunoco Series driver Drake Malcom will take over duties of the #32 starting at Las Vegas. We would like to thank Coca-Cola Racing Family for allowing us to borrow their driver so we can continue competing week in and week out in the Canes NASCAR Cup Series.
