Pennzoil to sponsor JRM's #83 Kelley Earnhardt, while not the samesake of JR Motorsports, is credited with doing a lot of the behind-the-scenes dirty work with the two-car Busch Series operation. And that was apparent today, as Dale Earnhardt Jr. told reporters that she deserves all the credit for landing Pennzoil as the sponsor for the #83 car in a 3-year deal. Pennzoil will sponsor all races the #83 will compete in starting next season, as Earnhardt Jr., Kerry Earnhardt, and Aric Almirola share the part-time ride. "All of you media people like to say that I'm the reason we get the sponsorship we do, but Kelley is the one that should be recognized for this one," said Earnhardt Jr. "I don't really know what she does or how she does it, but whatever she's doin' is workin' and that's makin' us all real happy." The #83 car will supposedly run for 16 races next season, with Almirola taking the majority of starts. It joins the #88 NAVY Chevrolet that will be driven full-time by Brad Keselowski. However, the #83 has a coveted spot in the top 30 of owners points for next season as they will take points from the #90 Robert Yates Racing team, but are said to be looking to sell the points since they won't be racing full-time. Earnhardt Jr. declined to comment on any sales negotiations, but did encourage interested owners to contact him. (ESPN.com) (5/22/07)
