RWR to Honda in '09, Ford for 2008, no Cup team Rusty Wallace Racing announced some big changes for the organization this morning from the team's headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. After starting as a Dodge team and transitioning to a Chevy program for 2007, the team will make a one-year stopover at Ford before joining Day Enterprise Racing as Honda teams when the Japanese manufacturer debuts in NASCAR in 2009. "I'm sure our fans are getting frustrated with all the changes at this point, but I really believe it's the best direction for our program. Honda has a lot of exciting things up their sleeves, and over the next year and a half our engineers are going to be working closely with Honda Performance to develop reliable and high-performing NASCAR engines," said Rusty Wallace. Among the topics discussed was the future of the part-time Cup Series team, at which point Wallace acknowledged that the team will not run the car again next season due to the introduction of the COT. Wallace also noted that the team is still actively going through potential drivers to run the #64 Ford part-time next season, to team up with son Steven Wallace in the full-time #66 Ford.
