Joey Logano, aka "Sliced Bread", extends with JGR Reports running around the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series this morning indicate that Connecticut-native Joey Logano has extended his driver development contract with Joe Gibbs Racing and will make his Nationwide Series debut in 2008, at some point after he reaches the age of 18. The 17-year old phenom, who has been dubbed "the greatest thing since sliced bread" by Randy LaJoie and has the support of Mark Martin who believes that Logano can "be one of the greatest that ever raced in NASCAR", has been lighting up short tracks around the country, running for Joe Gibbs Racing. The rumors indicate that Logano extended his contract with JGR to last through 2010, and will participate in 5-7 races in the #20 GameStop Toyota next season once he reaches the age minimum for the Nationwide Series. He is competing full-time this season in the NASCAR Busch East Series, but has run 1 race in the NASCAR West Series this season, his first career start in the season, and he won the event. So far in the East Series, Logano has been tremendous, winning 2 of the first 5 races and finishing no worse than 13th en route to the points lead at the moment. JGR officials declined to comment on the rumors. (ESPN.com) (6/22/07)
