Seven years after the demise of IROC, Nascar Racing 2002 Season and I are proud to bring you NIROC (The New International Race of Champions)!

What you need to know about NIROC:

20 drivers from a variety of racing leagues have come to compete. Obviously though, there's room for only one champion. These all-star speed demons are in it to win it!
Schedule consists of 8 races, twice the amount of old IROC schedules. There are 5 ovals and 3 road courses. Why? Because variety is the spice of life! Why else?
Points system being used: The original NASCAR points system (Referred to as "NASCAR Classic" in Score4, which will be used to tally points in this season).

#1 Sebastian Vettel (4-time F1 champion)
#01 Max Angelelli (2013 Rolex Sports Car co-champion alongside John Taylor. Angelelli gets the nod due to having more racing experience)
#2 Brad Keselowski (2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion)
#3 Austin Dillon (2013 Nationwide Series champion)
#6 Nico Rosberg (Current F1 points leader, dominating the season)
#9 Scott Dixon (2013 Verizon IndyCar Series champion)
#10 Tony Kanaan (2013 Indy 500 winner)
#11 Steve Kinser (Sprint Car sensation)
#14 Tony Stewart (3-time Sprint Cup champion and champion of IROC's last season in 2006)
#17 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (2013 Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year)
#20 Sebastien Loeb (9-time World Rally champion, is #20 because he was the 20th entrant in this season, voted by the NR2003 Mock Season community)
#22 Sage Karam (2013 Firestone Indy Lights Champion)
#24 (4-time Sprint Cup champion)
#28 Ryan Hunter-Reay (2012 IndyCar champion and 2014 Indy 500 winner)
#42 Kyle Larson (More recent Sprint Car sensation prior to his move to NASCAR)
#44 Lewis Hamilton (Currently 2nd in F1 points, dominating season alongside Rosberg)
#46 Frank Kimmel (10-time ARCA champion)
#48 Jimmie Johnson (6-time Sprint Cup champion
#88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2014 Daytona 500 winner)
#98 Matt Crafton (2013 Camping World Truck Series champion)

Remember when I said that race 1 would be tomorrow? Turns out I had time to run it today. So with that said...

NIROC started its history with a 32-lap evening shootout at the Daytona International Speedway.

Open-wheelers Scott Dixon and Lewis Hamilton had the honor leading us to our first green flag, having drawn the top 2 positions during the pre-race start position draw in the driver's hauler.

Dixon would lead the first lap in NIROC history, and spent the early stages of the race battling up front with Nico Rosberg.

On lap 8, Sebastian Vettel and Austin Dillon tangle on the backstretch, sending car #1 into the wall. Vettel was quick to get the car off the track and onto pit road for repair, so the race stayed green.

The following lap, Rosberg and Jeff Gordon tangle while battling for the lead, dashing their hopes of victory. This incident also failed to bring out the caution...

...as would this tangle between Dale Earnhardt Jr, Max Angelelli, and Brad Keselowski on lap 14.

The first caution in NIROC history finally came out on lap 16, courtesy of this Jimmie Johnson spin.

After the restart on lap 21, the field would start to get serious in battling for the win as the race was entering its closing stages. The battle took a turn for the worse with 5 laps to go however, when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Frank Kimmel got together while eyeing the lead that was being held by Steve Kinser.

Kimmel would collect other drivers in the crash while trying to regain control of his car. From lightly tapping Austin Dillon to taking a massive hit from the lapped car of Vettel, who made hood-to-hood contact with the ARCA legend while trying to avoid the chaos. Both Kimmel and Vettel were forced out of the race.

The debris left behind by the second caution forced the race to end under a yellow flag. Thus, Steve Kinser would obtain the honor of being the first race winner in NIROC history.

Round 2 of NIROC I took place in Sweet Home Alabama, for a 38-lap shootout at Talladega Superspeedway.

Austin Dillon and the rest of the field take the green flag.

There's already trouble 2 laps in after Scott Dixon and Sage Karam tangle.

Tony Stewart takes the lead on lap 10. Stewart and Dillion would spend the next several laps battling for the lead, with Brad Keselowski, Tony Kanaan, and Matt Crafton in the hunt as well.

Coming to the end of lap 21, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and others get into a close call, but no one wrecked, and the race stayed green.

An off-the-pace Frank Kimmel slows the leaders briefly.

Lap 25: Four drivers tangle coming out of turn 2, then Lewis Hamilton plows into Kyle Larson, ending both their days.

With two to go, four more drivers get tangled after Stewart is spun by Kanaan.

With the race destined to end under caution, Dixon was looking for victory after recovering from his lap 2 spin. Coming out of the final turn, Dixon was able to beat polesitter Dillon to the white flag (albeit just barely), and take the win under caution.

Round 3 of NIROC I took place in something that old IROC lacked: A road course, specifically Sonoma Raceway. Here's out it turned out.

Sage Karam leads the field to the green flag.

Halfway through the first lap, Austin Dillon meets the left-side wall. He continued with minor left-side damage.

On lap 5, a traffic jam in the hairpin causes trouble for Jimmie Johnson, Max Angelelli, and Lewis Hamilton and brings out the race's only caution. Though no one retired, Angelelli had to come into the pits on the restart for repairs that cost him time.

This close call on lap 9 ended Brad Keselowski's hopes of victory.

Sage Karam caps off a dominating day with victory at Sonoma valley!

NOTICE:

Series will be on indefinite hiatus as I am going through the process of a computer change at the moment. I'm currently on a computer rented from Rent-A-Center, and while I have all my information stored on an external hard drive, my dad prefers that I don't copy the data on the rental computer, which I'll be on for the next 2 weeks. Instead, he says I should wait until we get our new computer and copy all the data onto that.

Just to reiterate, NIROC I has NOT been canceled. The reception this series got upon announcement has put me in no mood to abandon this project like what happened with the ASCS. This time, things will just be on hold until I get my new computer and regain access to my data. I don't have a timetable for getting my new computer just yet, but stay tuned for further updates.

Barring any other twists of fate, expect race 4 of NIROC to be up tomorrow.
