Hey guys. First of all, I'd just like to thank you for all supporting me through this undertaking. I never would have maintained it if it weren't for your guys' support and interest and now participation. I have a blast doing this and I appreciate each and every person who comes to read this forum.
That being said, I'd just like to let you guys know where we stand in terms of 2008 and beyond and the coming months. I am approaching my senior year in high school, and will be applying to somewhere around 15 colleges. Most of those will also require applications to not only the university itself but also the Honors College since that's what I'm looking for. Because of the amount of time that I know will be devoted to doing that, things around here will probably slow quite considerably. During the limited free time I'll have in the fall, I'll probably try and squeeze in a race every now and then or paint up a scheme. The only problem is that on my laptop I can't minimize NR2003 while working in another program. I may just sim a race now and then and post results, but I'll try to avoid doing that. Don't worry though, once I get past mid-January I'll be in the clear and my Senioritis will kick in and we'll be back in business.
Anyway, in terms of what 2008 looks like, I'm pretty confident that I won't be posting very much more, if anything at all, in the Silly Season threads, for any unowned teams. No big-name teams in Cup or NNS are stuck sponsorless at the moment. The only things that will change are any road course ringer signings and any small-name teams getting a sponsor. I don't plan on any of the unsponsored teams that are left getting a big corporate sponsor to cover even half the schedule, let alone a full season, so to keep with realism, I won't be letting you guys know when a team like JD Motorsports or Carl Long Racing signs some local business to cover a race or two by way of a Silly Season thread. It's to keep with realism. I look at like Hillman Racing's #40 team in Cup this season. They didn't have a sponsor at all entering this season but have picked up several partners for a race here and there during the season. However, I want to have all my ducks in a row so to speak before 2008 starts. That means having most, if not all, of the paint schemes completed. Because of that, I'll be making new Team Profiles for 2008 and will be removing the 2008 Paint Scheme section. I'll post a race-by-race breakdown of which sponsors are covering which races, which drivers will run which races (important for NNS), and I'll have all paint schemes located there. This doesn't mean that a team can't gain a sponsor midseason with a strong performance, though. If an unsponsored team runs to a top 5 performance and shocks the world, they'll certainly be noted by potential partners and could gain a sponsor midseason.
Hopefully everyone's comfortable with this. Obviously, you as the team owners can still make moves and sign drivers. Most of what I said applies to just the random teams that aren't owned by anyone. Keep up the painting if you aren't done yet, and feel free to ask any questions or leave any kind of feedback.
