After a strong accident at the GFS Marketplace 400 involving Rusty Wallace, Matt Kenseth and Sterling Marlin, it would be quite obvious that there would be some consequences.
A contact through them in the first turn sent them into the outside wall of the track. Rusty Wallace, who had low impact, went to the medical center of the Michigan International Speedway, but was discharged a few minutes after entering.
However, for the other two the situation was not good.
Matt Kenseth, who hit the outside wall practically "head-on", had his right arm broken and needs to be four weeks off so that he can recover properly.
Sterling Marlin, who in addition to hitting the wall, flipped over to Rusty Wallace car had a broken leg and some injuries in the arm. Nothing was too serious, but a forced break of eight weeks for full recovery is needed.
On the other hand, teams already are moving to fix substitutes. Jack Roush chose the former driver of his team Chad Little to race at Bristol without informing to Chad will run for the next three races.
Chip Ganassi chose the Busch Series ROTY contender David Stremme as an emergency, as Chip will be without Scott Pruett in Bristol and Darlington.
