JR Motorsports to sell owner points to JD Motorsports Earlier this season, JR Motorsports acquired the assets, which included owner points, of the soon-to-be-shuttered #90 Robert Yates Racing Busch Series team. Yates chose to close his Nationwide Series program, and JR Motorsports, intent on expanding to 2 full-time teams, arranged to acquire the owner points of the #90 team at the conclusion of the 2007 season. However, funding could not be found for 20 of the 36 races, and the second JRM team, the #83, will only be run in 16 races. Because of that, team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. told reporters today that after getting the points, he would sell them immediately to Johnny Davis's JD Motorsports organization. "Johnny is a good guy and he's trying to build his program the right way," said Earnhardt Jr. "I know they're struggling for funding and I figured I didn't need the points, so I could help him out." Davis, who will field the #0 and #01 Chevys next season for a variety of drivers, hinted that he was leaning towards using the points for the #0 team. (SPEED.com) (10/11/07)
