Arnold racing calls it quits after career-best run Don Arnold posted a press release to the Arnold Racing website that announced that his team will cease operations immediately following the team's 4th place finish in the Bank of America 500. The employees had previously been told that the team would shut down at the end of the season, but Arnold said they will still be compensated through the season finale. "After discussing the situation with the team members, we've decided it is best to cease operations immediately," the statement reads. "The 4th-place run was completely unexpected, and the euphoria that night in the shop will always be remembered by everybody. We know that as a small, underfunded, and part-time team, we will not able to replicate that very often, if ever. Because of that, we feel that closing down after the organization's high-water mark will leave the best taste. We thank Jeff for driving for us this season and we thank every sponsor that has ever funded us. While the results were never consistently strong, we our proud of what we accomplished, and being able to prove to ourselves that we can run with the big boys is a very satisfying feeling. It is sad that the economics of the sport are forcing us to close our doors, but we are closing them on a joyful note. All the best, Don Arnold." (Arnold Racing Website) (10/15/07)
